Markel Direct is a specialist online insurer providing cover for small businesses, the self-employed, contractors and freelancers, as well as small charities, local community groups and clubs and societies.
We are trusted by over 200,000 customers and have over 30 years’ experience of insuring a wide range of businesses, professions, social welfare and charitable organisations. We’re also rated 4.7/5 by our customers on Feefo.com.
We specialise in liability insurance, including professional indemnity, public liability and employers’ liability, covering the specific risks of a particular sector.
In addition, we specialise in insurance for the charity and community sector, insuring thousands of community groups, children’s groups, counselling and support groups, as well as clubs and societies.
All clients receive access to the Markel Law Hub (an online resource of legal and business guides, templates and content from in-house expert solicitors ) and 24 hour legal advice helpline.

Our core customer base range from 18-65 years of age, and usually require insurance in order to carry out their work or protect their business. The level of cover required differs between contractor, freelancers, SME’s, charities and community groups.

Our sign up journey
 
Our sign up journey consists of two essential steps: 

  • Quote: The customer generates a quote, based on the level of cover and products they feel are required for their business
  • Sale: The creation of a customer record which includes personal information and their insurance policy information e.g. policy number

We have invested heavily in user experience to ensure a fast and easy online journey for the customer, with proof of insurance documentation issued instantly to enable contractors to secure contracts straight away.
 
Payment can be made securely by debit/credit card or spread over ten interest free monthly direct debits.
 
Full telephone support is provided by our experienced in-house customer service team and we actively invite feedback from our customers via Feefo.com.
 
We can work with affiliates who can drive significant volumes to develop a co-branded/white label quote and buy system for their audience base.
 
Remuneration
 
1. Publishers will be paid based on the value of a referred policy:

  • £50 cashback on policies up to £150
  • £75 cashback on policies between £151-£250
  • £100 cashback on policies between £251 - £350
  • £125 cashback on policies up to £351+

It is important to us that we only partner with publishers that are trusted in the industry, and understand the rules surrounding financial promotions. You will not necessarily need to be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority yourself.

As an affiliate you probably already recognise the problem with insurance quotation tasks. By promoting Markel Direct to your audience, you’ll position yourself as a problem solver, offering them a quick solution to access insurance and added support services, including a 24 hour legal helpline and Markel Law Hub.
 
Customers rate us highly through Feefo.com, and we believe that affiliates like you are key to making more people aware of our simple insurance solution.

Depending on the type of audience or format you use to promote Markel Direct, we can supply you with support, extra information and additional marketing support for volume opportunities. We’re also happy to take part in Q&As, chats and events. 

Terms & Conditions:

  1. You and Markel Direct both agree not to place advertisements using either party’s brand or name without prior approval. 
  2. Promotions regarding Markel Direct need to meet Markel Direct guidelines at all times and need to be approved by Markel Direct.
  3. Both parties agree to act in a professional and proper manner in all promotions and to comply with all FCA regulations regarding financial promotions.
  4. Cashback is available on new policy applications only. Renewals do not qualify for cashback.

  5. Cashback will only be paid for a maximum of one purchase per account per month

  6. Customers paying monthly will only qualify for cashback after the qualification period

1. The Publisher must not:
    1. describe itself as an agent or representative of Markel Direct;
    2. provide any information about Markel Direct or an affiliate of Markel Direct to any customer, other than using the assets provided through the TradeDoubler platform;
    3. provide Markel Direct with the contact details, personal data, or any other information in relation to any customer;
    4. provide any personalised recommendation connected to any product offered by Markel Direct;
    5. help a customer to complete a proposal (or claim) form;
    6. carry out direct marketing or promotional activities to in relation to Markel Direct or Markel Direct’s products, other than using the assets provided through the TradeDoubler platform;

    1. forwarding a proposal form to Markel Direct.
2. The Publisher warrants that: 
    1. it holds, and will maintain, the necessary licences, permits, permissions, authorisations and/or approvals as may be necessary from time to time to act as an affiliate of Markel Direct;
    2. its obligations under this agreement and performance thereof will not breach any applicable laws;
    3. it carries on a profession or business which does not consist of regulated activities; and
the performance of the services is incidental to, complementary to or otherwise closely connected with, the Publisher carrying on its profession or business.
